In 2010, when I was an RA in college, I started hosting an event called Dine ‘n’ Doc. It was a time for friends to get together, eat food, watch a documentary, talk about it, and immediately do something (donate money, write a letter to your Representative, donate supplies, etc.). Over the years, this event progressed from my college dorm room to a variety of friends’ living rooms around the Bay Area.
Then in 2022, I decided I wanted to expand the concept of Dine ‘n’ Doc and make the discovery of quality documentaries and the Dine ‘n’ Doc experience more accessible to everyone.
Sometimes, documentaries can be daunting to watch. My hope is Docuvist will make it easier for you to carve out space and explore these topics with peers, so they feel less ominous, and instead energize you to have conversations and get involved.

The end of the film is just the beginning.
Docuvist helps curious documentary lovers and filmmakers stay inspired, stay informed, and stay engaged — after the credits roll.
Founded by Chloe Fitzmaurice, Docuvist grew out of a simple idea: that watching a great documentary should spark more than just a moment of reflection — it should spark conversations, discoveries, and even small steps toward change.
The roots of Docuvist trace back to 2010, when Chloe began hosting homemade dinners paired with documentary screenings in her college dorm. Friends would gather to watch, talk, and take action — donating to causes, writing letters, or simply asking bigger questions. Over time, these gatherings evolved beyond campus and into living rooms across San Francisco, eventually inspiring Dine 'n' Doc, a community event series that continues to this day.
Docuvist expands that spirit to a wider audience — making it easier for anyone, anywhere, to discover powerful documentaries and stay engaged with the stories that move them.

Founded in 2022, Docuvist is committed to making it easier for people to discover documentaries, engage with difficult topics, and transform awareness into action.
Documentaries don't get the same kind of attention as mainstream blockbusters, so we're here to shine a spotlight on documentaries and the filmmakers who tell these stories. We showcase films with underlying themes such as sustainability, inclusivity, diversity, and wellness.
We hope that these stories about the planet and the human experience dare you to dream of a better world.
Often times you have to hunt around to figure out where to watch a documentary. Think of Faves as a playlist that takes the stress out of planning your movie night calendar. If you already know your taste in films, you can explore our Documentaries page.
We know that you want to geek out after watching a film and learn more about filmmakers—how they made the film, where the subjects are now, what's happened since the camera's stopped rolling. Our goal is to present substantive interviews and behind the scenes bonus features that enrich your viewing experience and knowledge of a topic.
We hope these documentaries motivate you to keep growing your mind and inspire curiosity. We encourage you to check out the discussion questions posed for each documentary and keep asking questions about issues that matter to you.
Travel from the comfort of your couch! Even with the best of intentions, it's easy to get trapped in your own echo chamber, but docs are a great way to challenge yourself and get insight into other cultures and other ways of living life. Our hope is that you use Docuvist to broaden your worldview and perspectives through documentaries.
Join us for a Dine ‘n’ Doc event or have your own documentary date with a friend or family member. We provide the questions so it’s easy to spark intentional conversation. Who knows? This might the beginning of a film club!
It's easy to feel disheartened after watching a documentary and wonder, now what? We try to make activism less overwhelming by providing donation and advocacy tools for each film. When available, we use resources provided by the filmmakers. If not available, we vet organizations using Charity Navigator.
